InthelasthalfofJuly,DreyerandVictorHermansentravelledthecountrytolookatsuitablechurches.TheyresearchedthedetailsandatDreyer’srequestanumberoftechnicalchangesweremadetothechurches,includingtheremovalofporcelainholdersforelectricalwiringinTvejeMerløseChurch. On4July,DreyerwentinadvancetoRingkøbing.Shootingwassettostartafewdayslaterwiththearrivalofthedirectorofphotography,PrebenFrank,whohadfallenoffaladderandbrokenhisleg,Fortunately,hewasreadytocautiouslystartworkingagainwithinafewdays,withhisleginacast. Thefinishedfilmwasshownforthefirsttimeon24September1947toasmall,closedcircle,whichincludedtheMinisterforEcclesiasticalAffairs.InDecember1947,aswasDanskKulturfilm’sstandardpractice,thefilmwaspresentedtothepress,politiciansandothersonaprogrammewithfourothershortfilms.
